Pick Pony Track Condition Report — Parx Racing, July 14, 2026

Track Surface & Bias

Parx's dirt surface typically plays fair-to-mildly speed-favoring, with an edge to front-runners and pace-pressers who can secure position into the first turn. Historical patterns and prior wet cards at Parx show that when the dirt has any moisture or is recently harrowed, it can become slightly cuppy and tiring, which further rewards horses with early speed that avoid kickback and traffic issues. Inside-to-middle posts are usually acceptable on the main track, with a slight preference toward mid posts that can avoid getting pinned on the rail yet still save some ground.

Handicapper’s Edge

Given Parx's typical dirt profile, lean toward horses with tactical or early speed and proven form over this surface, especially those drawn in inside-to-middle gates that can secure position without overworking. Closers can still be effective, but generally require a contested pace and demonstrated ability to handle Parx's stretch, so they should be supported more strongly when race shapes project genuine pace pressure up front.
