Century Mile's dirt (D) surface typically plays fast and fair-to-mildly speed-favoring, with front-runners and pace-pressers holding a consistent edge, especially in sprints. The long homestretch gives well‑positioned stalkers a chance to finish, but deep closers usually need a genuinely hot early pace or slightly tiring surface to be fully effective. Inside-to-middle posts are generally the most workable, particularly in shorter dirt races where securing position early is critical, while extreme outside draws can be a modest disadvantage.
